Where to begin fixing this site... - 9/12/2009 21:05:26
I'm working with a small company to revamp their Web site. What I inherited was a server full of directories and files of about three or four past versions of the site. It seems as if when new updates to pages were made, a new file was created with a new extension or just a slight change in the file's name. It's a mess.

To boot, when you search for their top key words they come up on page 50 of Google with a PR of 3 for the home page.

I've just finished creating the new site - with new files all together. I've edited the .htaccess file to do a 301 redirect all of the the old pages left up on the server to a page on the new site. I've looked at their Google webmaster tools and have addressed any links that could not be crawled with a 301 redirect.

So aside from having created a good, solid site, and fixing the redirects for all of the old pages, what would you folks recommend be my next step in trying to pull their ranking up? This is a company that relies on the Christmas season and it's coming up fast. They have a good number of inbound links, but not exactly from any "wow" Web sites. We're looking at AdWords, but I'm not sure what to work on next.

Any suggestions?

For SEO - LINKS

For immediate traffic - PPC
