ExpressionWeb2 body not editable - 9/13/2009 20:02:37
It has been a long time since I have worked much with a website except to keep a couple of them current with FrontPage. Now I'm trying to learn Expression Web since I have it here. I started with a template so that I could change it as a learning experience since that is how I taught myself FrontPage many years ago. It is going OK but I wanted to change the background color on the body portion of the template. I changed it in the CSS properties task pane and it seemed to work fine. When I created another page from the DWT page everything looked good except the body is not bringing across the color I changed and it is not editable although it shows that it is in the manage editable box. Trying to find the problem I noticed that the CSS background property had a line through it so something is overriding it but how do I find out what. And....why is the body not editable on the attached pages?

I check in every so often so I know you all have moved on and there aren't many questions on Expression web but any help will be appreciated. I am a newby at CSS and Expression web and I just don't know anywhere else to look.

Thanks,

CSS "cascades"--that is, the styles on the page over-rule the styles in the head which over-rule the styles of the external stylesheet (if it is located physically above the styles in the head). So you have to track down all of the body background styles in your CSS.

Thanks for refreshing my memory. I was looking at the cascades backwards.....

Sorry to be so long in responding but the paying job took precedence this week.

I am having problems with the span un_en problem that as near as I can find is a recurring bug in Expression. I've check it out on the web and have tried all the workarounds and checked my language settings and the thing still shows up. If anyone has an answer for this it would sure help.

Thanks again,
