Login issue - 9/14/2009 22:11:34
I've got a site that I've normally been updating using FTP for a couple of years now. It's worked fine and I can still update it that way however, I'm adding a commerce element that requires I update using FP. I've used this commerce template before to build whole sites but this time I'm actually adding it to an existing site. The problem come when I go to publish. It won't let me logon using the correct name and pw. I installed FP extensions earlier today. Another strange thing is that, a couple of times when it's asked for the username pw, I'll enter it and the same username/pw request box comes up again at which point I hit 'cancel' and get the 'it doesn't appear a website is installed at this location' message. Those aren't the exact words but it's a message I've seen before and I'm sure many here have. At any rate, there's something way back in my mind suggesting I've gone through this before but I can't remember what the solution might have been. Any suggestions?

Just to make sure Dave, your not using the username and password that you would with FTP correct?

Why would it matter anyway? Logging in requires a login and pw. It shouldn't be different depending on what program you login with. every other website I update with both methods works with a single username/pw combination...

Can you post the exact error message you are getting when you try to publish using FP?
