Front Page takes my site down? - 9/16/2009 14:47:03
I've had a site going for a few years that was created in FP but uploaded using FTP. The other day I needed to start using FP to publish. I was never actually able to login (related to my previous post) but now, you can't even visit the site. My host said switching to FP can rewrite all permissions. They are having me uninstall FP extensions and reinstalling them. Hopefully it will work but I'm writing this to see if anyone can tell me anything more in case it doesn't work?

Hmmm--if you are not using the FP extensions then why not use FP to publish using FTP instead of HTTP? If you ARE using the extensions then there are better ways to do what you want to do without using them.

Well, the reason I'm usinf FP to publish is that we're adding a commerce element that requires using FP to publish as well as FP extensions on the server.
I've uninstalled the extensions and, while that took away the login request on the index (enter) page, it shows up on the second page however, if you just click 'cancel' you can continue on. It's a step in the right direction at least. So now I'm reinstalling them...

Reinstalling the extensions appears to have worked!

Interesting...I am not aware of any "commerce element" that uses the extensions...most hosting companies are phasing out the extensions anyway as they are not supported by Microsoft. Well, good luck!
