Two questions-oneExptression Web and one on CSS - 10/9/2009 15:25:26
Trying to lump the 2 questions into one post. I have been working my way through developing a website using Expression Web2 and using all CSS. . Had to relearn a lot of what I used to know on html and I have learned a lot of CSS by experimenting and doing but I have two things that have me stumped. Hope someone will help. I fully understand the </span> tag in html but for some reason every time I enter text Expression Web throws in <span lang="en-us">. I have checked the site settings for lang and everything else I can think of and it still does it. If I take the tag out it doesn't seem to make a difference but it sure makes the code ugly and drives me crazy! What should I be doing to eliminate this...or...what might I be doing to cause it? CSS I am trying to position three graphics of the same size across the bottom of a page. I've tried boxes, div id, div class and everything else I could think of or find in my well worn books and it never works. They do not line up evenly. What should I be doing? Thanks for any help

I don't have an answer for you but wanted to let you know I'm in the same boat sometimes, by EW2 placing a <span lang="en-us"> tag in for some of my sites. I have quite a few different sites I maintain and it only does it on a couple. So, it isn't a setting, since the other 95% of my sites it doesn't do this to me. I've been too busy to try and figure out exactly what it is that is making it do this though. A little work around for me - If I set the "Style Application" mode to "manual" (down in the bottom right of the screen) it no longer does it, but then I lose some other options that I like(which I don't recall off hand). If I set it back to automatic it does it again. Although, in those other 95% of my sites it doesn't matter how I have it set. I'm hoping someone responds with a reason why it does this and/or a fix. I would love to find out.

With the site open, click Site > Site Settings, on the Site Settings dialog click the Advanced tab, Check "Ignore the keyboard when deciding the encoding of new pages." and click OK. See if it helps Got the above from Steve Easton MS MVP

Thanks, Don. Now if I could figure out which sites were doing this to me I would give it a try. Hopefully, it works for Paula!

Thanks Brian and Don, I saw the Advanced setting tip on the Expression Web forum and mine is checked but it doesn't seem to help. I guess if it suppose to...as they also said, I'm wondering if some other setting is offsetting that one. Brian- After seeing your post that it doesn't affect all of your sites I'm thinking it has to be a specific setting somewhere. I'm wondering if it can be something in the CSS??? I'm just a newbie there though.
