FrontPage - 10/12/2009 17:00:30
Hey guys, just wondering about a couple things involving front page..

one thing i'd like to know how to do is, lets say i have a button on the left of the page, and when i am hovered over that button a different picture changes? like hover over about, and a different pic changes..

also is there anyway to download more interactive buttons?

You can use mouseovers to swap images on navigation buttons although this is not the best way to do this...it's usually handled without images using CSS.

Otherwise, here are a few variation on image swaps:

thanks for the links! they should be very helpfull to me when the time comes to use that coding

also i have somebody that is quite set on using kompozer to edit her site, but she wants me to make her a new one. Is there any way for me to create a site for her, in frontpage, and then make it so she can edit it with her kompozer program? she has no time to learn how to do any special html coding or anything, but says she knows how to do it threw kompozer.. any help would really be apprecieated.

kompozer
is a WYSIWYG editor. So is FrontPage. So it should be a piece of cake for her to edit your FrontPage web as long as you don't use FrontPage bots. (You can use the include bot with no problems)

Frontpage bots are Frontpage-specific bits of code that control certain elements on pages (for example Frontpage page counters, time displays, photo galleries etc. - the some of the things Frontpage lets you add without having to write or paste in any code, because it has it's own special code for it).

Frontpage's special code needs a web server with Frontpage Extensions installed on the server for them to work (many hosting companies no longer have FP extensions installed though since Microsoft ended support for them, because it can be a security risk to the server). Editing a Frontpage site that uses the FP bots and using a FTP program rather than Frontpage itself to upload pages onto the server will "break" the extensions on a server that has them installed, so the 'whatever' the bot controls won't work.

If you need any elements on a page such as page counters, timestamps, galleries etc. and the site's going to be maintained using another WYSIWYG editor/FTP software, then you'll need to use alternative scripts for those elements. There's loads of copy 'n' paste scripts available online though that'll give you the same functionality as the FP bots did though, so it shouldn't be a problem.
