embedding youtube on webpage - 10/15/2009 15:49:10
I'd like to have a youtube video play directly on my web page instead of having a link that takes the viewer away from my page to play the video. I tried by copying the embed code from youtube but that didn't work.

Thanks

Then you have to upload the appropriate video file to YOUR server. Best to create a Flash file then link to that. You see --- it is more complicated then just embedding the Utube link on your site. Keep in mind also that letting viewers look at a video that you have on your server will use up lots of bandwidth and allocated gigs of downloads that your host provided.

I personally would stick with Vimeo and use their embedded code. If you go to their paid version then they will give you the code that shows a snapshot of the video on your website with all the controls, start, stop, etc. with no advertising. And it would appear that it is coming from your website.

There are a couple of examples on the wife's website here:

Yea, I do not want to overload my server. I thought the embed code from youtube created a player on my page.

I think both Vimeo and Utube will embed a player on your website. On Vimeo there is a button on your video page that says embed. Use that code.

Yes you can embed your video from utube in your web page. You will not be redirected away from your page. It will put the player on the page and visitors can watch it right there. But you need to put the code separate and not like you did between the <a href></a> like you did.

Create a new <p></p> and drop the utube code in there and it should work.

For creating a text link use the offered URL code.
