Need to install FrontPage2000 on Vista computer w/Offic... - 10/25/2009 16:08:33
Hi, I need to install FrontPage from an old Office 2000 disk onto my new computer running Vista and Office 2007. It this possible? Is there a way to just install FrontPage without the rest of Office 2000? I'm terrified I might screw something up. Thanks, Brian

You should be able to just install FP 2000 as a separate program. However, isn't that a really old version? At least upgrade to FP2003 if you can get one from Ebay. Better yet, move up to Expression Web. That is the program that has replaced Frontpage and is standards complaint. I use both Frontpage 2003 and Expression Web side by side.

Thanks Don. I know FP 2000 is old but I just need to get back to where I was before my old computer melted down. I have a very basic site. This is just temporary before I do something else that I don't have time to learn just now. When I put the Office 2000 disk in it looks like it is going to install the whole thing as it says, "now old versions of Office will be removed and Office 2000 installed." How do I go about just installing the FrontPage part of it and not risking my Office 2007? Brian

You know I always thought that Frontpage was sold as a individual cd or dvd. Are you sure that it is on that Office disk? If it is, maybe you can browse to the directory structure of that disk and see if Frontpage is located in a separate directory. If so maybe it can be installed from there. Just guessing on that but it is worth a look.

Everything I have read is that Front Page will not co-exist very well with Office 2007. I agree, moving to FP 2003 would be a move in the right direction. Rick
