Stuck on "Generating thumbnails for photo gallery&... - 11/28/2009 19:00:30
Hi all,

I'm using Frontpage 2003 to try and create a webpage with a photo gallery for my photography site. I've done this many times before without issue. Now, however, whenever I finish editing the style and titles and everything in the Photo Gallery Properties window and click "OK" to save it, it gets stuck on the "Process Dialog" window with the message "Generating thumbnails for photo gallery"

I figured it was just taking a while at first, but after leaving it there for an hour it was still hanging on that same window. The progress bar is all the way across but it never completes. Clicking the "Cancel" button at the bottom does nothing, the only way to get out of it is to click the red X in the top right corner and then I'm back to the Photo Gallery Properties window again.

So what can I do?

To give a bit more information, I've run a website for my photography since Fall of 2005. I originally designed, created and uploaded the website through Frontpage 2002 on my Windows 98 computer. In fall of '07 that computer died, I lost all my files, and had to start over from scratch on a new computer, this time with Frontpage 2003. It's been a slow process recovering from that and posting updates to the website from the new computer, but I still haven't had this problem before, and I must have made at least 200 or 300 photo gallery pages since I started using FP, all with the exact same property specifications and styles as this one, and this is the first time I've run into this.

My operating system is XP, my internet connection is plenty fast, there are only 30 pictures in the gallery, all of them under 400kb. So overloading isn't the problem here. I googled this message and found several other people with the same problem asking on forums like I'm doing now, most of them dating back to 2002, 2003, 2004 or 2005...none of them had any solutions given to them.

Any help on this matter would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,

Alec

Btw, here's a screenshot of the window it keeps hanging on:

Just on my way out and didn't have time to read your complete message but saw that you are using the FP photogallery. Don't use it. It creates code that may not work in all browsers.
