XP, Spooky Login and read-only directories - 12/22/2001 23:23:06
I am running XP Pro and Frontpage 2002. I installed Spooky Login and get a read-only directory error. I checked and the directory is marked read-only, so I change it to writable. Go back to the diagnostics and get the same error. After chasing my tail for a few minutes I come to the realization that XP changes the folders back to read-only as fast as I can change them. I checked this on 4 different computers. They all do it. So, I installed it on a W2K Server and it works just fine. W2K leaves well enough alone and doesn't change the writable setting to read-only on it's own. The problem is I don't want it on the W2K Server, I want it on XP. Is there a setting to prevent XP from doing this or is this just an "added feature" as Microsoft would say? Any suggestions? Ideas? Magical fixes or potions?
