Site Critique Requested... - 12/22/2001 23:44:22
Hi everyone...

I'm pretty new to this and am just starting out. I have been playing with my own site to look at different designs and that sort of thing. I was wondering whether you could check out my site and let me know what you think of the design and whatnot.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tori

Um, okay? Was that a wow to the design or the content? I'm kinda looking for some thoughts on the content... I couldn't tell which you were referring to. Either way, thank you...

Any other feedback would be appreciated.

Hi Tori

I was onto this yesterday, until a storm struck , knocked out the power, my response & ISP......anyway from memory....

Your portfolio page loaded quickish on my slow speed PC, however you need to get better images on your thumbnails as you are selling a product that revolves on image.

THe photographers page was a slow loader (some 90k+ images etc)( but nice clear images)....need to work on it and find a happy medium.

You will need to work on meta tags as it is a hard site to fill up with content that the Search Engines will work on.

Cheers from the Outback

Cool site. :)

My only suggestion, and it's just a personal thing, would be to change the bottom navigation so the links don't italicize. It makes the entire line shift. Maybe you could try bold or a color change.

Hmmm... do I like the layout of the photograph page or not? I'm having a time trying to decide. I think that that is good. The two scroll bars may be difficult (I want to say dificile [sp.?]. I feel very European after seeing your site.) I was scrolling quite a bit to look at all the thumbs. I think I (personally) would like to see the photos laid out on one page so I can choose from a larger selection. Congrats to the photographer(s). Great shots. They show the spectacular diversity of the human spirit. If you're going to keep the layout on the photos page, why not put a nav link on the left? I don't think some text over there would detract.

You need to add some meta tags. I have a page about them, look here: http://www.singersong.com/fixing_meta_tags.htm

Great site. If you changed nothing, I would still come back and look at it. Sometime. Congrats.

Oh yeah and... add alt text to your photos. Describe them using every keyword you can. In FP, right click the image goto picture proerties and replace the photo name in the TEXT box. NOT IN THE PICTURE SOURCE box. This is the text that displays in the browser on mouse over. That is all.

Looks very nice. I would border the home page image with a nice snazzy border. Something like this:

or maybe a burned edge feel or something to tone down them edges..

Great site...
