raypasnen -> new site/new critique (12/28/2001 22:22:22)

Hi guys-Here is one I started a while back and kinda shelved. Can you take a look now and let me know what you think? I know, I know. No counters, but I've just switched to a unix server and I can't figure out the danged stats. I have 40 sites and I don't know where any of the traffic is coming from for, like 2 months. It's driving me crazy. Any ideas? Anyway... there is a counter.

As always, thanks everyone for your comments.

Hi Ray,

I like colors as much as the next guy or gal but I found that background very hard to look at.
Conforms nicely to higher res..Nice Job

Hi Ray,
I have to agree with Troy on the background. I had difficulty reading the blue links against that background.

The navigation also drove me a little crazy on the link section. There is so much information and so many links to read through on each page, even though they are the same links, that it was a lot of work to find where I wanted to go. It was easier to use the back button and go back to the original link index. Also, I had to scroll down on each page I opened to get to the important content. If I have to do that a few times I would probably just leave. I realize that is probably not the main part of your site but it is something that could make people keep coming back. Lots of good links there.

May just be my compulsion about navigation but when I look for something I want to click once and have it be there.

Hi Troy-yeah, just too much diversity of colors in that background. I played for a while trying to find text colors that would come out of it well, but, alack and alas.

New background there, now.

I don't think I can change the layout of the links in the theme index. I'm using one of those Zues robots to do the indexing and the thing seems pretty rigid about that sort of thing. I would have to change the template within the robot and, um, I have to check on that check on that. I've just found too many subjects. I'll try to group some together.

Paula, I don't know how to show you exactly what you want to see without scrolling. I know all the info is a pain in the bum but search engines absolutely love it!

I'll keep at it as always. Thanks for your insights. (more please?)

Ah Yes,

That is much easier on the eyes... Big improvment.

You can use Lycos HTMLGear with a non-Lycos, non-Angelfire site? I did not know that. How did you hook it up?

You can use the script they give you on any page. Just copy and paste. Copy and paste. I use htmlgear for about 30 guestbooks, news, etc... They don't have any problem with that. I think ;-/

Ray,
The background is much better!

The scrolling I'm talking about is not the information but the fact that when I open the page all I see is the ads and all the hyperlinks that are at the top of each page. Scrolling through information is fine but scrolling to find the start of the information is what I was referring to.
