help with site - 1/2/2002 15:20:18
Hi
Looking in my logfiles I can see that I get 2000-3000 unique visitors a month, but in the field "each user visited times" it is only a 2 times. I think that is pretty bad. What can I do to improve my site??

Hi torben,
You need to give the visitor a reason to come back. A quick look shows your pages to be virtually all links. You need to give me some information up front, not make me guess what to look for. For example your small statement at the bottom of the home page "The objective of MallorcaFact.com is to give an independent description of towns and places of this Mediterranean island, backed up with photos. As well as suggesting links to other web sites with info to visitors and residents of the island." is something you might want in the body with a bit more explanation. Who are you, what is your purpose, why do you exist, how are you useful to me, etc. it's clean but needs more information.

Great site. Maybe it is so well put together that you answered your visitors questions in 2 visits (or clicks). Possible. I missed graphics on the secondary pages. Photo of beach, maybe nightclubs on the night clubs page. That sort of thing. I think you're talking about being "sticky." Getting people to return to your site repeatedly. Try to offer a few things. Maybe a guest book/forum question and answer thing, free email, something "FREE", something that will make people return again and again. That's the ticket to stickiness.

Hi Torben
Looking at it off the cuff from the other side of the World.......it took me a while to work out it wasnt in Mexico or South America.(3-4 clicks then a backspace on the browser told me it was in Spain)
Ok I see a bit on the bottom bar about the Mediterranean.
You know where it is you live (and it looks wonderful)...but maybe the allure of the Mediterranean needs to hit me in the face when I come to the home page so I know where I am.
Great simple clean layout , I like it !
Is malloca pronounced may-orca?? where one of our Aussie fugitives lived for years?

Your site seems well laid out and very clean. Here are my suggestions:
-Some thumbnails on Towns and Place & Trip Descriptions
-Can you add reviews to the various restaurants, activities etc.
-A "What's New" page would be great
-Maybe try to make all of the photo pages more consistent. Some have a slide show, some have different links, some have a "Back" button while other don't.
Just some thoughts, but like I said earlier, it is really a very nice site. It may just time for visitors to keep coming back because you have such a niche site.

I think the changes definitely take it in the right direction. The only other suggestions I might have (realizing your probably still under construction) is to bring the odd pages into the same format, ie "Selected Beaches", "Maps", "Web Index" etc. Otherwise great job.

Nice job!
Clean, crisp site with just the right amount of graphics giving an overall good look and feel.
Navigation is fine when on your pages containing the "Mallorca Fact" graphic but the user could get lost when departing on one of the many links available with no "navigable" way back (maybe this is one of the reasons you don't see lots of repeat visits with visitors perhaps bookmarking other sites instead of yours).
Not that I have anything against links to other sites as they can/do add tremendous amounts of pseudo-content to your pages.
