Gino -> Old guy has dumb question (4/4/2001 20:37:00)

I am in the process of developing a couple of web sites using FP2000. I have seen a multitude of page templates out there and found one that will fit the theme of the site perfectly. My problem is it is a freebie (naturally) and comes with no support, I have no idea how to get it from where I downloaded it,(zipped) into FP so that I can use it and go on to modify the background, create buttons, etc. I know there must be a way to do this but, can't find any help in the FP manual. It is probably there, but, don't even know where to look. HELP??

Thanks in advance
Gino

First you need to unzip it for which you will need WinZip or similar. You will be able to download WinZip here: http://www.winzip.com/

Unce it is unzipped you should be able to go n and start working.

Katherine,
Thank you for the response. But, my problem is not unzipping the download(as I said in the email) the problem I am having is getting the page template INTO FP so it CAN be worked on.

Do you or anyone know of a tutorial out there that covers how to do this. (I realize space here is limited and I really need a tutorial, I guess)

I had seen, some time ago, that it must be unzipped somewhere in FrontPage, just can't remember WHERE.

Thanks again for the come back. I SINCERELY appreciate it.

Gino

Hi, Gino -

Part of the solution would depend on whether this is a page template, a web template, or just a theme.

Go ahead and unzip it again. This time put it somewhere easy to locate (like in your Download folder or in My Documents)

Open FP. If this is a web template use Open Web and browse to the location.

If it's a page template, open a web or create a new one, then import the page template into this web. You can then use it to create other pages (add your text/content and "save as" page_name).

btw - even though it was free, you might check again at the site where you got it if this doesn't help. They might have an FAQ or other help online, or might respond to an email if you drop them a line. Happy users can lead to paying users, so I'd think they'd probably have some kind of support. Let us know if you get it working.
