we80.cnf - 1/6/2002 20:57:04
All for the sudden when I try to publish I get the following error. Server error: Cannot open "we80.cnf":no such file or folder. Does anyone have any idea what this is? I recently installed Dreamweaver and don't believe I have published with FP since. Any help would be appreciated. Mark

I don't think installing Dreamweaver would have caused the problem, but anything is possible. There are 3 possible fixes that I can think of. There might be something wrong on your host's end. The fix in that case would probably be to reinstall FP server extensions. If you're using themes, FP nav components, or shared borders, you will need to republish when that happens. I think I would try that fix last, however. If you're using your own Personal Web Server then it could be that you can reinstall your server extensions to fix this. You can locate the server extensions install icon on your FP disk and double click on that to reinstall. I think I would try that first if you're using the PWS. If you're not using the PWS or if that doesn't work then I think I would try reinstalling FP. You won't loose any of your webs if you do that. t

One thing you might try before any of this is to open your web and do tools > recalculate hyperlinks. I doubt if that will fix it, but that's something that I always try when I don't know what's wrong. Sometimes it does the trick. t

Thomas, Thanks for the help. I did determine that it is a hosting problem because I can publish to other domains. I has just reinstalled the FP Extensions and will try publishing later. I will let you know if this works. Thanks, Mark

Well, it was the FP extensions on the server. Thanks for your input Thomas. Mark

Contact your host and ask them to uninstall and reinstall the FrontPage Server Extensions.
