files, files everywhere - 4/4/2001 23:13:00
Hi Everyone,

I’m doing some updates on a web page that I did not create (for our business) and the person that did create is it is not very helpful. (It’s in the agreement that we would be doing some of the updates). Anyway, I have a page with a map of the US with hotspots that link to distributor information. When the distributor information comes up, it should have a link to the distributors web page that opens up in a new window. All the distributor information is in a database, which I
have added a field with the data type of ‘hyperlink’ for the web site information.

I was successfully in adding another hotspot and dot to the map, but can not figure out a few other things on it like where to do the update to add the hyperlink (I know how to add the hyperlink, just not where).

The person that created the web page used a lot of includes pages and frankly I’m having a bit of a problem understanding just what he did. I can’t find the files to do the updates in and like I said, he has not answered my questions as of yet. Can anyone help me to understand just what files do what here? I mean I know what the header and footer files are for. In the code on the page I’m working on includes a section called the CSIM (which is the file that contains the hotspots for the map), but that is one of the files I can not find.
URL is www.blackbros.com if you click on the Distributor Locator at the bottom left of the page, you will see what I mean.

Thanks,

Lorri

Michael

There may well be hidden folders in this web, which is common for borders, include pages, etc. Open the web, and on the Tools menu click Web Settings, and then click the Advanced tab. Select or clear the Show documents in hidden directories check box to show or hide files in hidden folders.

This should get you started.

Michael,
Thanks for your answer. I did finally get a hold of the guy that created the web page and this CSIM "file" I was looking for was actually created with a program called "Coffee Cup Image Mapper" it is a neat little program that lets you create image maps. http://coffeecup.com/mapper/ It's a shareware program.

Thanks again,
Lorri
