PWS/Home Network - 1/9/2002 21:48:38
Hello,

I have a home network with Windows 98. I want to be able to edit my sites from networked computers. The web folder is at http://lpg/fan on the main computer. When I try to create a web shortcut from the networked computer, I always get the error "Cannot connect to the server http://lpg/fan. The server could not be located, or may be too busy to respond. Please check your typing or check to make sure the Web server is available."

Everything else on the network works fine--- shared web connecting, file sharing, printers. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Sorry... PWS does not allow for editing from other machines on the network.... Only from the local (installed) machine.
You will need at least the IIS version with Win2K pro (not sure about XP Home) to be able to edit over your home LAN.

confirm, you need XP PRo for IIS. another MS caveat

All this to change a number into a name...
