graphic background problem - 1/11/2002 10:41:55
I am working on a new web page for my company and my boss had asked that our logo be rotating. I imported an old logo file into Corel RAVE, did some tweening, and imported it into my website. take a look....

www.nardiconstruction.com/test2/

Not great I know but I need to make the background of the logo the same color as my template....HELP!! how do I do this. I just got Corel 10 and no little to nothing about it. I don't really even know if my gif is revolving correctly!! also how do I make a animated gif as such as little as possible? (in downloading time)

any other suggestions on my site would be greatly appreciated, it's got a long way to go.

Thanks in advance
Kristen

Kristen,

Page doesn't seem to load properly i.e. all I see is a blue right angle graphic and part of a black spot in the opposite corner!

I can't figure out what is wrong...let me tell you what I did....I took my logo.gif, imported it in Corel RAVE, tweened it so it looks as though it was revolving, exported it to make it a .gif file, then in frontpage, I inserted picture from file, my new logo file, save. You could view my website before I added this revolving gif, anyone have any ideas on what I did wrong?

Thanks
Kristen

I've never tried it, but I am pretty sure you can't use an animated gif as a background image for a page. Since background images will tile to fill the page, there would be a whole lot of activity going on to try to do it - I know bosses like to have certain things. But some things just are not possible.

Looks to me like you tried to make the background into a "theme"

(background="_themes/nutznboltz1/bg.gif"

No? Or is that a new theme in 2002 (I'm still using FP2000.) If that's what you did I'd just use the gif as a background and not import it as a theme. And if it's a moving graphic then like Nancy said, it probably won't work. It might stay static and not move but it may not work at all. I couldn't get anything to come in.

I am sorry I think I have been misunderstood. I am using the nutznboltz theme by outfront. There is a section on the left side that is seen on every page, it is called the "what's new page" in the "include" file folder. On this page I am trying to insert a animated GIF which is our revolving logo. (I am not trying to make it the background of the page, it will be seen on the left side of the website, just as a GIF) However the background of the GIF is a white square, but the color of the template is blue. Therefore I have a revolving logo in a white box that sits on top of the blue background. (sorry if I have been confusing you all) However, I can not even get my animated GIF (which I made in Corel RAVE) to even load on my webpage, when I preview in browser it looks fine (except white square) but no one else can even load my page now??? Help, I am so lost!

I just tried it again and this time I saw an "L" shaped blue cell/table and a black dot on the right (but close to the middle.) Here's all the code that was listed in the source and I don't see a gif in it anywhere except for the nutznboltz bgd.

I took the Gif out for the moment so I could see if my page would come up but I am still having problems. My IT and I are going to work on it tomorrow morning, let you know again when I think I have the quirks fixed.

Thanks for trying!!

Kristen

I had the same problem, easy solution that worked for me. Cut and paste it directly on
page.

The problem is that rave is suppose to be used to create flash files which you would then us on your web page. A gif is not going to work the way you want. Rave creates the swf file and that is what you want to use.
