rrawling -> Weird FP Email Form Behaviours!!! (1/17/2002 4:14:12)

Hi - have a test site with a form (email) at
http://www.accalliance.asn.au/join_ACCA.htm; upon submission I get this weird URL returned
http://www.accalliance.asn.au/_vti_bin/shtml.exe/join_ACCA.htm (which is just a blank page !!)

No emails are coming through, and I also get a weird network login request. I know my ISP (www.cedant.com) has FP extensions installed as i already went through this loop.

Can someone please have a quick look and see what is wrong - if obvious - much appreciated as this is URGENT

thx RR

When I click http://www.accalliance.asn.au/_vti_bin/shtml.exe/join_ACCA.htm - I get a page requesting user id & password. My gut reaction is this has security setting set up on this page.

So I went to http://www.accalliance.asn.au - clicked on link to join. I could fill out all the info but email address. It would not let me type in it. I would look at your properies for line 1.

Hope this helps.
Erin

Erin

Thanks. Will check the security issue, but I am not aware of it (it might be inadvertant!!). Re the email, there is a logic block on that whereby you need to click I agree to the pledge, before it accepts the email address. I have found that it sometimes can be set on I Agree upon initial form view and will not accept the email address.

The real issue still seems to be the form behaviour which remains a problem.

thx

RR

It's Unix right...I'm not sure but doesn't Unix need a form to email handler like formail. I have Linux and they provide the script, but its everywhere on the net'. I looked at their/your control panel and there it is, about four rows down towards the end. I bet if you click in there they will tell you how to set up your form to mail feature...

Solution:

your form is trying to access a secure folder??? The confirmation page is set to be ???. Should have Confirmation fields from form. (I usually set a re-direct on this page) Need to use the Formail program located in your control panel for this feature. Check these

All this to change a number into a name...

Seem to have fixed this now. The form encoding type had been set to
text/plain for some reason (?by FP) - I have now got it working by getting rid of the encoding type. I also asked the ISP to reload the FP extensions and this might have helped as well.

I had an email checker script on the form and it might have been when I imported that when it toggled this encode type. I just ripped the form down to its basics and tested as I went and uncovered the problem - all other forms on the site work OK

many thanks
