What are "Includes"?. - 1/21/2002 18:27:31
I've seen mention of "Includes". As a beginner do I need to know what they are and does FP2002 have them if they are important?

THanks

Yes, indeed, FP2002 has them. For an example, let us say you have a logo or some other graphic, or text for that matter, that you may want to change regularly on many pages and do not want to change each page one at a time. You could create a folder called _includes. Then create a file (a page) with the pic or other information in it. Save the file and place it in the _includes folder.

Then on your pages you can insert an Include file. When the dialog box comes up asking where the file is, just point it to the file in the _includes folder.

Later, when your site is finished, you want to change the logo or whatever, all you have to do is change that one file, the one in the _includes folder and all of the pages that have that Include file on them will be updated.

You can also do this with Footers, Headers or just about anything.

Does this help?

Yes -- that helps a lot. It makes a lot of sense.

Thanks
