http: error 403-forbidden internet explorer? - 7/12/2001 17:09:00
After creating a folder called subweb on an existing site and publishing my web to it I am unable to access it. Original URL was and is http://www.xxxxxx.org so I created a folder in the ftp and sent my web there it's address is http://www.xxxxxx.org/subweb/ when I try to view it on the web as a outsider would, I get the message "You are not authorized to view this page" http:// error 403-forbidden internet explorer. Am I doing something wrong when publishing, naming the file, or what? Thanks for your help every one is great on this site. Dave.

Open the site in your ftp client - ws_ftp pr whatever - and check the chmod on the folder. In ws_ftp right click the folder, select chmod and set it to 766, ie read/write/execute for owner, read/execute for group and other.

This is not usually necessary since these would generally be the default settings but it may be the problem.
