Rename page - 4/5/2001 20:32:00

A true newbie strikes again. I asked
my question in the intermediate forum
last Monday. Just couldn't work out
the solution. Decided I was in the
wrong forum. I used FP2000 to make
six pages. I did not create a Web
evidently. Somehow I got a bad extenson
on what I wanted to be my home page.
Following is the last question I posted
in the other forum.

More details. I don't know if I created
a web with FP when I made the pages. I
don't think I did. I uploaded them to
my server. The page that I want as my home page has an extension like index.html/then
a repeat of the url? I can't figure out
what it is. I could download the page and correct the name if I could figure out how.
In FP2000 any time I try to rename or create a new duplicate it tells me access is refused or it might be password protected.
I tried copying the page on a zip drive and
deleting all related files on my hard drive.
Then I opened FP, loaded the page from the
drive. Same thing. No access. I cannot
find out how to change everything after
horseracingedge.com to index.htm or html.
Under Tools the manual says to go to Web
settings. I can't find any way to highlight
this selection.
So I am standing in FP quicksand and the
smile is fading. Thanks for any added info.
I did try to go to the server, open the page
and create a new one. It just kept returning
me to their under construction page.

Hi Bruce

My first suggestion would be for you to create a new web in FP and then import your existing pages into that site.

File/New Web. Then file/import and locate your files. Once you have them in the list, click okay and the pages will be added to your site.

If you have an index.htm(l) page already set up, you can delete the default.htm or index.htm page that FP created when it created the site.

You should remove the "under construction" page that you have on your site. If your host set this up for you, they may need to delete it before you publish.

You should also make sure your host has FP server extensions installed and configured before you use the file/publish web feature.

Hope this helps.
