Working In FP Website on Server - 1/24/2002 11:04:33
I have an ecommerce website I recently published through FP to a host server. How do I go about working on the site directly on the server?

And then, how do I create a backup of the site on my local machine?

Thanks

If you successfully published your site then your host must have given you a username and password to access the site. Open FP and select "open web" from the file menu (or click on the open folder w/the globe on it). When the dialog box opens type in the URL of you site http://www.yoursitename.com (that's if it doesn't show in the list) and click "Open". You should then get a login dialog box. Put in the user name and password your host provided and you should be in. If your web just opens in FP w/o a login needed contact your host and let them know the site has no protection, it's happened to me.
As for placing a copy on your local drive simply publish it from the live site with FP.

I think, therefore I am, I think.

I do have a username/password. Many thanks for the instructions.

Working off the server is the way to go! People are finally getting hip... Now, drive yourself crazy trying to publish to the backup if your PWS is not feeling just right...
