Printing documents from a web - 1/25/2002 12:06:39
I'm new to web creation. I need to allow users to print out a form created in WORD from the web site. I believe this can be done by creating a PDF file with ADOBE Acrobat, but I'm wondering if this is the only way. The best price I've found for Acrobat is $250 and that's a little rich for me right now.
I'd apppreciate any help.
Thanks

It isn't the only way, but it is the best way if you have people downloading the file who don't have the same version of Word that you're using.

As long as you know that the people who are going to download the file have Word and are using a version that is the same or above the one you're using, you could simply link to the .doc file. When they click on the link they will either be prompted to download the file, or it will launch Word and open the file for them. They could then save or print the form.

You could also create a page with just the form on it. If you use a table to control the layout, it should print pretty close to how it appears on the screen. I would suggest testing the form on several different printers to see what results you get.

I assume this form will be mailed or faxed back to you, correct? Is there a reason you aren't using an online form?

Hope this helps.
