Web Database newbie - 1/25/2002 19:02:26
Thought I would take a couple of minutes today to try DRW - seems easy enough, right? Well, I'm still trying to figure out what is wrong. Hope you can help... here's the situation: 1. Created Access 2000 database with 1 table and 1 query selecting values from the table. 2. Added the database connection to the Database tab of Web Settings. Database is "verified" for what it's worth. 3. Created new, blank page. Selected Insert|Database|Results from the menu. Followed prompts, etc. 4. Saved page. Viewed page in IE5.5. Receive error messge: HTTP 500 - Internal server error. 5. Stuck. Help! Gee, I just wanted to end the week on a high note of trying something new. Hope you can make that happen. Thanks! dw

Spooky, I am getting an "HTTP/1.1 Application Restarting" error. Here's all I've checked: - Website Properties: * Permissions (Home Directory tab) set to Execute. Selected to change permissions on the fpdb folder too. * Access permissions set to Read and Write - Windows Explorer Folder Properties, Security: All accounts have Full Control (this is a new test server so I'm not too worried right now). - Tried with both Folder reference and ODBC reference to database. I tried these same steps on a website on an ISP's server and it works. So it's something with my setup. Thanks for your help! David

I've restarted the server several times. Guess I can try disabling the virus scan on the global.asa file as they suggested. A friend suggested updating the MDAC components on the server and possibly the scripting engine. Sounds like a good suggestion anyway. But I'll try disabling antivirus scanning on the global.asa first. Stay tuned... dw
