Updated databse won't display new results - 1/26/2002 11:37:52
I have an access database that is searched via a FP 2002 DRW with a simple, one field search. The page was working great. I then updated the database and uploaded the file, writing over it. But the search still finds the old information, not the new. (does not find new entries and still shows deleted entries). I checked: the connection (points to the updated file); the db file (opened live it contains all the changes); sources for old info (all files deleted or updated); the html in the drw page (uses the correct connection); verified the db connection. Does FP index and save this info somewhere else? Do I have to create a whole new connection or search page? What can I do? Thanks for considering my problem. Kim Dailey

If you open your global.asa file, does the connection string still reflect the actual database in use? (is that the one you checked?) How did you transfer the database? import or publish? Im thinking it may be a cache issue, but it sounds odd so far :) §þððk¥ Database / DRW Q & A VP-ASP Shopping cart Spooky Login

I had the site open live and I imported the new file, writing over the old one. Since I used the same name, the global.asa looks the same. So do the db connections in FP - and the only file they point to is the one that opens up with the changes in it. I tried refreshing the web page, recalculating hyperlinks, and closing everything down and waiting a while. If it helps, the page is http://www.southsidechurchofchrist.com/members/memberresults.asp. If you search "ba" the first entry that should show up is Baeza. And the "Baker, Dee" entry has been deleted. Do you think the server (hostway) could be caching it? Or that not publishing is the problem? What suprises me most is that it works at all if there is a problem... Thanks! kim

Heres a cache test. Open that asp page and just add a couple of characters anywhere in the page eg add "Baa" as the very last thing on the page. Now load and refresh the page. Does "Baa" exist? I have seen some hosts cache 500+ views of asp pages. §þððk¥ Database / DRW Q & A VP-ASP Shopping cart Spooky Login

I added new text to the page and it showed up. But the information from the database is still wrong. I also uploaded the updated directory and gave it a new name. Then I pointed the old connection to the new file. Still got the bad results. So I made a new page using the new database file and a brand new connection. It works. But then when I tried to rebuild my search form, I get an error message that had something to do with security last time I got it. Kim Dailey

I also just tried publishing the mdb file instead of importing it, no luck. Kim Dailey

Not sure whats going on there, perhaps use the new connection for all pages? To do that, youd modify the global.asa file to point to the new database. In doing that, its only saying that the old database is incorrect. So Im at a loss to say whats going wrong. §þððk¥ Database / DRW Q & A VP-ASP Shopping cart Spooky Login
