Why don't my .bmps show up in NN v6? - 1/26/2002 23:15:12
Hi all,
This is embarassing. For the first time, I have viewed my webpage in NN. I should have done it long ago. My title graphics for each individual page are graphic images created in Paint, and saved as bmps. They looked terrible in any other format (ie. jpg, gif, etc). When I view my page in NN6, the title graphics don't show at all. Why, oh why?
I'm a bit of a shmuck, so if there is a simple explanation, let me know....

Hi Maura
I just saved your BMP as a gif and dropped it from 30 kb to 2 kb. No loss of quality.
Not too sure about NN's limitations.
But I would have another attempt at the graphics (maybe you had some form of transparency occurring when you originally tried saving as gif)

Just for future reference, the only cross-browser graphic file formats supported on the web are jpg, gif, and more recently png (by some recent versions). In theory, any browser could support the bmp format with an appropriate plug-in, but that would require users to install it on their machines.
