This is a great site. I am learning to use Frontpage 2002 to build site. Does anyone know how to make a hyperlink come up in a new window? I do not want my visitors to leave my site completely by clicking on my links to outside sites.

When you create a hyperlink you get up a dialogue box, In the bottom right of that box there is an option called 'Target Frame' - click the icon to the right of this and you get another series of options - choose 'New Window'

I agree somewhat with what Abbeyvet is saying, but a website we own makes what I think is pretty good use of the "new window" tool. It is a tourism site touting historical homes, bed & breakfasts, etc. Click on an ad and go to that home's website in a new window. When you're finished, close the window and you're back to the original, ready to look at another home. Business owners like it because the tourist doesn't go away after looking at the first B & B, etc.
So while it shouldn't be abused, I think we've found a good use for it.

Sometimes it helps to let the site browseie know that they can close the new window with alt+f4 too.(keyboard shortcuts rock!)

But clicking an outside link on this forum opens in a new window
