What the heck? - 2/4/2002 17:57:51
I have had over 5000 hits today at one of my sites. The funny thing is that they are all from the same IP address. How do I track down an owner of an IP address? My site is still intact so I don't think it was meant to crash anything. Maybe just a fluke? It seems to have stopped for now. Any ideas? -Ray www.mythandmystery.com "I was being paid to do what I loved and there's no better gig on earth than that..." -Stephen King, Bag of Bones

I had a similar thing happen a couple of weeks ago..used this site to look up the IP address/etc... http://www.amnesi.com/ now when I look at the cumulative stats for that time period, particular IP address was no longer included. I just figured this out.

I had the same thing happen about 18 months ago. I use hitbox, and it was explained to me that Hitbox can have a nasty habit of "looping" it's information so that the same domain appears multiple times. I ahven't seen it in a long while, but it used to be a common thing. I have no idea about the technology, but that's what I was told by someone much smarter than me in this department.
