table background in netscape - 2/11/2002 11:49:42
http://www.kpmuktaxis.com/newtaxis.htm This page in IE is fine but in Netscape ?!? I have a table within a cell and that cell has a background picture. The background image repeats within the table. Is that clear? I have included the link so that you can look in Netscape. How can I get rid of the repeated image. Thanks Steve

If the image in the cell is 40x40 pixels and the cell grows (due to table size) to more than the 40x40 size of the image, the image WILL repeat itself to fill the cell size. Only way to get around that is to size the image to fit the cell size after the table that is in the cell is at it's final size. You follow? Gene White http://www.gwhitedesign.com

Yes, I understand that, but I didn't explain it very well. The main cell has a picture of a taxi. I have set the cell dimensions and the picture dimensions to the same size so that the image will not repeat within the cell. Within this cell that has the taxi picture as the background I have put another table to hold text links to other pages. This table is transparant within IE, the background image of the taxi in the cell below just comes through. In Netscape the background image in the cell below is repeated in the table holding the text. If you are able to view the page in IE and Netscape you will see. Sorry its difficult to explain the problem sometime. Steve

steve: it looks as if your links table has inherited the background image of the first table - maybe try putting in a clear one dot gif into the the cells of the links table & set the cell size to what you need - this might cure the problem. Good luck - it looks good in ie but your problem is evident in ns (might also change the font color to show up better in links table) Matt.
