FrontPage 2002 jitters - 2/11/2002 18:55:09
Does anyone else have problems with FrontPage 2002 having the "shakes." At times, when working in FrontPage, it shakes all over the screen. I have to restart the computer. This does not happen when I use any other program. Edited by - Gail on 02/12/2002 20:31:19

To much coffee in the monitor? Sorry, never heard of that before. Are you running one of those earthquake scripts? Gene White http://www.gwhitedesign.com

My monitor is a tea totler. I've nver run into this in all my 15+ years of computing. I don't have a lot of junk loaded into my WME system. As I said, the only program that does this is FP2002. It shakes like a bowl of jello, and it's not even Christmas.

Have you tried re-installing it? ---------- Who put the self-destruct button THERE?!

Maybe too much Java in your code.

I have never had this problem. Sound weird. I would try reinstalling it. Erin

Not sure a reinstall will work since I recently reinstalled my entire system and still have the problem. Perhaps FP 2002 doesn't like Windows ME; I think I'll call Microsoft.

My only suggestion is to try hopping on either the FrontPage updates page or going to the Windows Update machine and make sure you have all of the critical and recommended updates installed on your machine. Give it a whirl...you never know how updates help programs. Dan _________________ www.keada.com

Before calling Microsoft (unless you got money to burn) check out their Knowledge Base. ---------- Who put the self-destruct button THERE?!

Keyword there was ME. I like ME. I wanna talk about ME, just not Windows ME. I have heard of some weird things happening with Win ME. I will keep my ears open as well to see if I can find out anything about this problem. Gene White http://www.gwhitedesign.com

Glad I am not alone, Jeff! I will watch more carefully too. I've been trying to isolate what takes place before this happens but, as has been stated, it is infrequent. The only other problem I have is trying to make a hyperlink using the "open the search page of your web browser" feature found in the "insert hyperlink" dialog...ooops...dialogue box. ;-) Causes major freezes about 50% of the time. For what it's worth, I use Office XP (version did *not* include FP). FrontPage 2002 was bought first as a stand alone upgrade from FP2000. Edited by - Gail on 02/13/2002 07:37:55

Hey, I get the lock-ups at the hyperlink dialogue, too! FWIW, I'm running the version of Office XP that came bundled with FP 2002 (so it looks like the problem is not unique to your configuration). Jeff Hester www.BigBlueBall.com - Everything about instant messaging & chat!

This may be a far fetched comment... I used the 30 trial version of 2002 and then switched back to 2000 because I did not see the value in the upgrade. But in any case, I noticed that on large webs (dozens to hundreds of files) that when I created links there would be a real slow down and some other odd behavior. There has been some discussion in the FP newsgroup about this and I understand that there is a new SR. The word on the street is that that SR is also buggy. The problem as I understand it is in the way Office XP organizes files by creating some form of index. When I switched back to 2000 all of my web folders had some new indexing file in them that I deleted. Anyway your jitters may be related to this same problem. But you should make MS aware of it with a problem report. jeb John E. Brandt jebs webs jebswebs@earthlink.net
