All I see is a red page with gold stars down the left side.

Well Robert I got to it this morning - go figure?

Any way, the stars repeating throught the content about 3/4 of the way across is distracting. The space between the left border (Stars) and the content is way to large. On some pages the bottom links are not in line with the content of the page...

Gil, Goober, Richard...
Thank you very much for your responses...
The host server is located in the UK and it went down about 1:30 PM UK time, I'm still waiting to up load.
As you all can see this site will be a hotel booking site, for Beijing 2008, so I have about a 4 year period to get it worked out!
Then an additional 2 year window to fix it!

Sandy, I figure that you are using NN browser?
I am getting the stars and BG view in NN,4.7 but, OK in IE.5.5

Gil, The red BG and the stars are the Peoples Republic of China, flag takeoff.
The few Chinese friends (3) that I asked to look it over are just thrilled, but have very mixed emotions be they are very anti-communist! I'm having a very difficult time figuring out, what pleases who!
OK, I'm going to take a look at the margin spacing and bottom links.
I've been looking at it for hrs. on end and can't see the errors!

Can you folks please tell me which browsers your viewing with?

Greatful regards... Robert

OK, Gil!
I spotted the bottom navagation alignment error...
Table sizes mixed, some percent, some pixels!
Thanks for pointing that out.
I was to lazy to preview every page in a browser!
Lesson learned!

Greatful to you, regards, Robert

This is a nightmare!
Nothing like a little input!

Hope I can get this fixed before 2008!

Thanks for the screenshot Richard, even though it did make me queasy!
It's like looking at a magazine, with each page a different size and the guy running the press was drunk!

I now see all of the fouled up margins and table sizes, Gil. Is there a button that I can push to correct this mess(I mean besides delete).

I appologize for submitting to soon, but I doubt if I would have seen what has been pointed out!

I'll get back for another appraisal in a couple of weeks and will be much more careful about how I use your time in the future!

Thanks to all of you for passing on your valuable experience...

Regards, Robert

RE: FP2002 first usage - 2/14/2002 13:50:22
Now I can see what's going on.
I built the site at 800x600 res.

I changed it over to Richards settings and it's a total wreck.

So, the question is, what setting should I be using so that the site appears correct to all viewers (or most viewers)? Or is that possible?

Just what is the most common setting used by the majority of viewers?

I've been so obsessed with getting the written content and tags setup for the search engines, that I ignored the layout!

More help needed!

Regards, Robert

OK, here I am again...

I just figured out, that when I made the background in paint shop pro, I only made it 800 pixs wide, so it started repeating itself down the right side of the page, to fill out the page.

Don't ask me why I set the BG at 800, I don't know!

I just threw the background away!

Regards... Robert

The page loaded just fine for me, but the content on each page shows up right aligned on my screen. It covers up the column of stars on the right side. Is it done in a table that is right aligned? That is what it looks like at first glance.

Thanks alot, Bnavis
Yes, it is right aligned, one problem though. There's not supposed to be any stars on the right side!
I made the background to narrow. I made it in Paint shop pro. So, what's happening is that the right side of the page is being filled in and you're seeing a repeat of the left side of the back ground. There's only supposed to be stars down the left side.
The tables are right aligned to leave a margin for the left stars.

Well anyway I threw the background into the trash bin! I'm going with a plain hex code #FF0000 background. I guess I tried to get to cute!

Thanks for your time and help...

Regards, Robert

Looked at your site using Microsoft XP with IE 6.0 and a modem speed of 28.8 kbps. The site loaded extremely fast.

On the "Visa" page, I received a bad link for "Link to Us".

"Three Star Hotel" link also not working.

On main page, all links from "American Embassy through "Chinese Phrases", both top and bottom of page, were not working.

"Chinese Medicine" page not centered on screen, traveled way off to the right.

Hope this helps,
John Cresseveur

John, Thank you very much for taking the time to do this, Your help is very much appreciated!
This saves me a lot of time checking all of these problems. Since you've pinpointed them!

I've had to rework the site, and haven't found all of the errors on each page yet...
I getting ready to present the site to two major hotel booking agencies in aisa.
Got to look good, know what I'mean...

Regards and thanks... Robert
