Protohost- index - 2/19/2002 14:34:49
This is the first page of a new site...
Could some of you folks check it out, so that I don't pass on the errors to the rest of the pages!
Also, how does it look?

The site looks really good!
The only thing I noticed is the links at the bottom of the page are still pointing to files on your c drive.
Of cource this is probably cause your not done publishing!

Good Luck!

Scott

Duh!
Yea, I saw'em
Didn't have any pages to go to, so I just left 'em...
Do you think that, anyone could get access to my PC, using those links?

Regards, Robert

It seems as though the text in the middle of the page is crammed in there between the boxed in objects on the sides... like theres realy not enough room for the info your putting there.

And just out of curiosity... whats up with the "weather" link on the right side? It seems a little out of place with the rest of links above it.

Cant wait to see the rest of the site! Its looking really good.

Scott, Yea!
That's what I was wondering...
If anyone thought it looked kinda squeezed.
It looks kinda squeezed to me, but I wanted to see if anyone noticed.
I didn't want to say it right out, 'cause then everyone would say Wow! That page looks kinda squeezed.

I'm glad you finally came out with it!

The links on the right side were just things I threw in there to fill the space til I get some pages to link to...

Regards and thanks everyone for taking the time to give of yourselves!

Your unmet friend, Robert

I'm using ns4.72 and I find that the alt text on the top nav buttons is half cut off.

I think the slightly crowded look would be overcome right away if you just make the font throughout the same as the one used for the note at the bottom - it is smaller and neater.

It is difficult to set up a hosting reseller site that differentiates itself from all the others out there, when essentially they all say much the same thing. It is perhaps inevitable that blur together a bit after you have looked at a few. However even if it is their servivces that you are reselling I do think it would be wise to be careful about your site being too like another hosting providers site, certainly without being sure that they do not mind their layout, images and so on being reused and adapted.

Kathreine...
That's a very good point!
All of the hosting providers that I've dealt with, have been very good about granting resellers usage permission.
Regardless, I always request permission before, I put out the work. I can't see weeks of work down the drain...
If a site is a reseller, I really don't see any reason to pretend otherwise.
I have dealt with resellers that posed as primary providers, and didn't even have tech support, What they were doing became obvious, when the first problems arise that they can't handle!
If a primary provider won't allow useage of their, resourses, I don't see any sense in getting involved with them...
After all the provider should provide support, for selling their product.
Often as many as a half dozen reseller sites will be receiving Tech-support from the same support desk.
The book cover can be of different colors but a book is still a book!

I try to stick to reselling hosting locally,
Some folks just have a better feeling when they are able to contact someone locally, even though the server may be located in the UK!

Stickinthemud...
I'm using NN 4.73 and find the same problem, Half of the alt tag cut off.
Does any one know the answer for that problem?

Regards, Robert
