Use includes or shared border? - 7/26/2001 16:29:00
I'm using the Sundot template from frontpagecommerce.com http://www.outfront.net/sundot/Excluding the header and footer, the pages are divided into thirds. My question is about the right hand third of the page. I want to include in the right third content that will appear on each page - a client log-in area, newsletter sign-up box, and some teaser copy to get visitors to drill down. My question is would it be better for this right third of the page to use include pages, 1 for each little section (1 for the client log-in, one for the newsletter sign-up, etc.), or, would it be better to make that third section of the page a shared border? TIA for your opinion. ------------------ ------------------------- "It's always darkest in the middle of the night."

Personally, I like include pages because they are a lot more flexible.Sandy ------------------ Stu Reilly Design Allegheny Web Dreamweaver Sites

Well Leon, I don't think it has been said (enough) but includes would be the way to go.And you're really on to their benefit with the "1 for each little section" comment. You can change only one if you need and leave the rest alone. Or maybe just move it's location somewhere else on the page. Can't do that with shared borders. A pox on shared borders. I started with them and after a great deal of frustration eventually bagged them after being encouraged to do so on this forum.Includes are the way to go. I am now glad to say my shared borders frustrations have been eliminated, allowing me to move on to new ones.
