website localization problem - 2/20/2002 16:24:04
I am localizing a website from Swedish to English and have stumbled on a problem. Some of the pages contain pictures with the name h%F4st.jpeg and links to pages called h%F4st.htm %F4 is replacing the Swedish letter ä even though the page and picture is named exactly the same way as above, they will not display. I have checked the Swedish site and everything is written the same way and it works. Has it got something to do wíth the CHARSET settings in <head></head> or am i completely missing something? I'm taking a wild stab here, but I'm guessing that this is a server issue. I don't think the server your pages are hosted on are set up to recognize extended ASCII characters in filenames. I don't think there's any way around that unless the filenames are changed. ---------- Who put the self-destruct button THERE?!
