Using Access Queries in FrontPage - 2/22/2002 8:13:45
In reading some of the posts here, I get the impression that it is possible to create a query within Access and then somehow call that query within FrontPage rather than having to recreate the query in FP.

Is there a tutorial on how to accomplish this?

Thanks

Yes, this seems to work for relatively simple queries created in Access. When you are selecting the table--select the "view" instead. Great for putting a table in alphabetical order (but not so hot when you use the replace() command).

I too am just beginning to learn to use a database in FrontPage. This forum has been unbelievably helpful--the moderators are terrific!

You can actually use queries for all of your database connections (to Access). In fact, you should use queries - they are much faster.

My tests show an increase in connection speed anywhere from 50% to 500% depending on the action.

You may need to leave the DRW to gain the full benefit.

I too would like to show learn about querying in Access instead of FP. I don't think I understand what Evans means here
quote:

Are there any resources that explain this in great detail for a Newbie like me?

At the step in the DRW that shows the available tables for the connection, youll see all of the queries [view] as well.

You can select these the same as you do a table (they must exist first!)
