Web Graphics Course - 2/24/2002 7:00:06
I've been teaching Web Design beginners and improvers courses for a couple of years using FrontPage. I am constantly nagged by my students to run a web graphics course and have finally given in. I would be interested to know what others would consider the essentials for a complete beginners course in web graphics. The software I have available is CorelDraw and Fireworks.

Image maps and Rollovers are good things to know about but most of all I would stress image optimization. There are so many potentialy great sites that simply take too long to download.

Most of your theory might come from this site: http://webpagesthatsuck.com/ These guys do an excellent job of demonstrating and explaining the theory of good web design from a graphics standpoint, but they take the issue of photo compression to an extreme.

Also, I would teach your students how to use Fireworks and Photoshop in tandem.

God luck!
