whitney -> Is my web slow? (2/25/2002 23:27:21)

Hi all. I recently made some changes to my web page. I learned how to make pop up menus from a script and put it in. I'm wondering if this has slowed up my home page or if its other things. Can someone take a look at it and tell me what you think. Also, how are the borders? I designed the web on a notebook and used some liberties in making the tables I think. Any advice will be great.

Yes, it does tend to run a little slow, and also it clashes with the other graphics you have on the page. It "steps on" the other elements on your page. Great effect, and I use it here http://bluewhalecomputers.com/
It does slow the loading of the page, unfortunately.

Opens a little slow on my DSL connection.

It's a nice site. Lots of interesting stuff. I kept reading instead of commenting
The menu does step on some of the other graphics as Tarheel mentioned. I did notice that the Today in HIstory link didn't work.

Hi Whitney.
I loaded your site using Microsoft XP with IE 6.0

(1) With a 28.8 Kbps on a 56K modem it took 45 seconds to load.

(2) Your blue links section on the left over-ran the "Street-talk 1" section on the left and also the "?? - wire" section in the upper-lefthad corner (Slang of the day).

(3) With IE, I normally do a <Shift> right-click to open a new window. When I did so with your "?? - wire" (Slang of the day) I hit a "run-time error" When I clicked "No" as to "de-bug" I hit a 404, this page cannot be loaded error. The other two icons to the right loaded correctly.

(4) Other links on the page loaded. I did however, read your "Click of the Month" as a hyperlink due to the underlining of the text.

I'm sorry as to not going lower into additional pages, getting late and the old-man is getting tired

I hope this helped!
John

Hi Whitney
A correction as to the above. I normally do a <Shift> left mouse key click for the new page.

Sorry as to that

The mind does grow older,
John

I did some work on the index page and it seems to be loading better. can some people with different size screens take a look at it and tell me how it looks? Thanks again. Also, let me know how fast it loads. Thanks
