Web host that allows ASP's and FP Extensions - 2/27/2002 22:02:42
I'm learning how to connect an Access database in FP. However, after much struggle, I've come to learn that my webhost (Earthlink) does not enable ASP's, though they do enable FP extensions.

Can someone tell me a decent, free webhost where I can work on this interface (without having to pay for it until I get proficient enough). And, once I get there, what are some good professional webhosting companies which accommodates FP Extensions and ASP's.

Thanks.

There is a Personal Web Server in Win95/98 which you can develop and test your ASP pages for database.

If you are using Win XP Home, then you need to upgrade to XP Pro to work on your asp pages.

Im with Wiliam - If you are just testing, get the local server running.
Theres a copy on the win 98 CD under add ons, or install IIS under NT/W2k/XPPro

Js,

When you get to the point that you want to take it live, there are a million possibilities. One that I thought I might never recommend has now made itself very efficient and stable:

http://www.accufind.com/

They used to suck but now they provide me with good service, they are a small shop.

I use Avehost.com for 5+ of my sites. Teh site looks like crap, but the service is always fast.

$8.95/mo no setup fee, free domain, asp, cgi, web based email, perl, fp ext, autoresponders, email lists, 25mb storage, 5 gb transfer, ole db, access, windows scheduler (very helpful), everything else you could think of...

Is there such a thing?

There are some hosts that are very cheap to use. When you get serious, don't just look at price, web space and data transfer. Those don't mean a thing when it comes to uptime, speed and reliability.

We use 1planhost.com, they cost $99.00 per year, 500mb. Service has been great.
