Copyright Symbol - 8/1/2001 23:01:00
Do font settings in FrontPage or on the viewer's browser have anything to do with the copyright symbol inserted from the "Insert", "Symbol" menu?

Like, no matter what fonts are used in the web page and no matter what fonts the user has on their machine, a copyright symbol inserted as above will always view as a copyright symbol?

Thanks for the help.

The copyright symbol is the copyrright symbol, no matter what the font.

In HTMLese the copyright symbol is '&' followed by 'copy' or & # 169 - without the spaces. SO it is not text as such.
You can find a chart of HTML chatacters and Alpha codes here: http://www.visibone.com/htmlref/char/ceralpha.htm

My, oh my. Take a look at that page in Netscape (I'm on version 4.7)

Go with the numeral code instead of the word for these characters and you should have better luck with Netscape.

& copy is fine to use for © , and so is & reg for ® , but most of the others are not.

Just to add a quick point the copyright symbol has a legal impact - so always use that.

Some people use (c) instead - which has no status and is not considered to be a copyright symbol - ergo no protection.

Linda is spot on about using num codes btw - netscape definitley prefers them for a lot of the "funnies"
