lost product key - 2/28/2002 0:46:51
I lost the case to my frontpage 2002 cd. Its a legit copy but is it useless now without the key?

You will need the CDKey when you have to reinstall after a disk reformat or when you change to a new machine.
Suggest you contact yr local MS Support while you still have the software on your harddrive. Jot down the Product ID info found in About Microsoft Frontpage of the Help menu in FP.

Request them for the CDKey.

Im guessing the current CD key would also exist in your registry?

Yes, the CD Key is stored in the registry, but it is encrypted with a complex encoding algorithm. If you're smart, you'll buy a product such as Keyfinder at http://www.product-key.com

Download and run the Belarc Advisor:

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

It's small and free and lists the product keys of most of the software on your machine. :)
