Apply template to existing pages? - 4/8/2001 20:34:00
I have a website already constructed and want to change the look of it, using templates and a new theme. Is there anyway to apply a template to existing pages? I can't imagine there is, but I figured I'd ask. If not, what's the best way to redo page content on new pages with a template?

Sure hope someone can help!

If you're using a template rather than a straight theme you won't be able to update existing pages with the new template.

You will have to start a new page using the template, open your old page and then copy and paste.

It's the hard way, but, as far as I know, the only way!

You could try to do it in DreamWeaver with a DreamWeaver template. But it is difficult on existing pages as stuff you already have on the page overlaps the template and isn't in the proper places. The template tries to delete content you already have on the page.

I was reading about Page Tools (there is a link over there on the left but I am not sure that will accomplish what you want either.

Hi again

I have just been mooching about and found the Page Tools mentioned above. This sounds like it would do exactly what you want to do!

Could be worth the fee. If you use it, or if anyone else has, let me know how well it works - I must say it sounds too good to be true - but hey if it works it'll be great!
