Picture Squeezed in High Resolutions - 3/5/2002 21:30:40
I put in a picture on our site while in 800 x 600 resolution and it looks perfect. When I changed resolutions to view how it looks in higher resolutions I noticed it was squeezed. I expected smaller but this is thinner also, somewhat distorted. Is there a way for the picture to look the same no matter what screen resolution is used? If not, would you have any suggestions as to how I can get the best looking pictures, no matter what resolution is used? Thanks, Joe

I've never encounters that phenomenon before. Sounds strange. Pihl "If God is not a Tar Heel, then why are hyperlinks default-colored Carolina blue?" http://1awebhosting.com 1A Web Hosting for Frontpage.

Leave it to me for strange TH. If it can go wrong it usually does, sad to say. I noticed the image was way thin in the higher res, so I went back and modified the photo, published it, perfect in higher res. Then went back to 800 x 600 and it was way WIDE. It is strange, but I'm hopeful someone will have a logical answer for it. Joe

WOW. I've never seen that either. Could you post a link? Paula

The only way it could actually be different would be if you used pixels for height but percentage for width, which isn't the case. I'd guess it's either your monitor having a problem or possibly (but unlikely) the absolute positioning. Netscape often has a problem with absolute positioning, so it's best not to use that. Linda

I've seen this before. The problem is that once you insert an image, it defines the size. So, if you change the image it still has the same size. Had you made the image smaller, it would have enlarged it to fit. You need to completely remove the image first and then put a new image in and it should look ok then.
