New forum heading - 4/8/2001 20:21:00
I agree with olds and think that a new forum section like "Urgent help" would be a good idea, because, the moderators / experts would know instantly that anyone posting in that section is in dire straights!
I had a big problem with my site, but, thankfully everything is working ok now (i wipe my brow!).
There are some really good people here who know a lot more than the average website holder like myself, and a new section would be a good idea, as long as it is not abused.
Thanks again to all the folk who came forward to help me over the last few days.

Hi, woof -

I'm sure we'll see opinions on both sides of this. I agree with Sandy that many of the posts seem *urgent* to the person with the problem.

The quickest way to get replies that will help you and that are easily followed by all that are trying to help are:

1) Post ONE question to the forum that seems most likely to help you. Most of us wander through many of the forums, so someone is bound to come across the posting fairly soon. Feel free to put URGENT in the topic, but also giving a clue to what the problem is in the title can help.

2) Continue posts for the relevant question on the same thread. Starting new threads for a continueing subject makes it hard to follow for all members.

3) Register. When you post a new topic, you can request to automatically be notified by email every time someone replies to your post. If you have your email set to check messages on a regular schedule, you'll get quick notification without needing to check back here constantly.

If those suggestions don't work for you, you could hire a consultant, but keeping in mind 1-3, those should work.

Linda
