RE: What is cached pages? - 8/7/2001 16:57:00
Cached pages are pages that you have visited previously and are stored on your computer. They may also be pages that are stored on a server, say at an ISP, so that when you request a page you do not get the actual current live version of the page but the most recent one that the server stored.I believe that in the case of AOL for example you will often get cached pages rather than actual pages. I say 'I believe' because I have no personal experience of AOL. So say my site was in AOL's cache (or any other ISP' who uses caching) and I updated it today. If you requested my page using one of these ISP's you would not get the updated version until such time as your ISP updated their cache. Some search engines also cache pages, this can be a good thing - have a look at this article: http://www.twcny.rr.com/technofile/texts/bit040401.html ------------------ Katherine InKK Design LinKKs - Kilkenny's Online Magazine -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* "Dogs have owners, cats have staff!"
