Host searching - 3/9/2002 12:55:13
I am useing FP2002 and XP OS. I don't have that big of a site planned. It's just a family page and a page to show my graphic work. What I want to know is what do I need to look for in a host. I don't want to spend anymore than 20$ a month. Do any of you have some sugestions? Thanks

LB

If you don't have a domain name yet, check out www.catalog.com. $35/yr includes hosting for relatively small sites... should be more than enough space & bandwidth for you.

I just found a new service that's Front Page enabled and incredibly inexpensive. I just signed on with them so I don't have much experience to base this on. From all that I read & that I've seen since I signed on, it looks like they're committed to service. It's at http://www.parcom.net (Feel free to tell them I sent you - Penny Magas, penny@marksellsstlouis.net, new domain there (still under constr) is supportstlouis.com)

I opted for their Basic service which is 3.95 per month; with that I purchased a $15 domain name. So for under $30, I got 3 months service (lots of features!) and my domain name. They also have a 30-day money-back guarantee (doesn't apply to domain name, tho) They have a less expensive domain with fewer features - depends on what you need. I wanted to be able to do listserv, autoresponders, asp, etc so I went with the more expensive one. :)

I filled out everything online late one Sunday and had everything ready to roll by Tuesday afternoon. Lots of documentation and everything is very clear.

Good luck!!

Penny
