First big site with all the bells & whistles - 3/9/2002 20:44:32
I have just finished the site and published it. Please let me know what you think. Keep in mind that I know basicly nothing so try not to be too complex with your suggestions.

Thanks,
JJ

HI JJ - Can't say I'm fond of the color combination, but perhaps those are the client's colors. I looked at it in IE, 1024x768 on a DSL connection. Seemed slow to load, probably because of the applet. Is there a point to the applet? I wondered why when you point at the images they get a green border but they don't seem to be links or anything. Honestly, the photos you used in the applet were quite nice but I think the movement made the page rather busy, especially with the drop down menu, and detracted from the nice photos. The green outline was a bit much. Perhaps a different color if you must keep it?

You seem to have made all the text bold and centered which I think gives it an amateurish look. Seems as though everything is fighting for attention, especially with the heavy borders around the photos and the heavy borders on your drop down menu.

The link under Personal Luxury that goes to "special gifts" doesn't work.

For the footer, I think I'd keep the font consistent instead of using Times which is not a favorite of mine for web viewing.

It may seem that I've picked on a lot here but just little changes here and there could go well to make this a nice site. Remember, al lot of this is only my opinion, and I'm sure others will be along to offer different ones.

You've done a big job for your first and really have done quite well with it. Good luck!

I see the main menu with bold borders, has potential if it was softened a little - the borders are too much imho. Perhaps if it was tied in with the background?
As with EWD, I agree that the font consistency needs to be maintained.

J-man, What do you mean by trying to load the whole site? How would I break it up?

JJ
