Though early posts will have solved their problem - newbies like me are just looking now, so...

OK - I just spent hours trying all of these instructions and other forums too - not working for me either and here's why...

PS ELEMENTS 6 LAPTOP DIRECTIONS For Copyright symbol- VERY SPECIFIC

Your numeric keypad is integrated into your QWERTY keyboard and accessed via the Fn key (see numbers on the MJKLUIO89 keys)

STEP BY STEP:
1) I used 'Times New Roman' Font - not ALL fonts work - Obviously with Text Tool
2) NumLk (which on my laptop is Fn + the F11 key and a little warning light comes on the console) must be OFF
3) NOW Hold down the Fn + Alt keys simultaneously - keep holding
4) THEN - while holding down Fn+Alt type 0169 that is, M J letter'O' 9
5) NOW (and this is v. important!!!) LET GO of the Fn+ Alt keys - voila, a copyright symbol

Oddly enough, it's that last step that tries patience the most and causes failure. And confusion about whether NumLk should be on or off as well.

IF YOU WANT TO MANIPULATE THE SYMBOL AS PART OF A WATERMARK YOU CANNOT JUST CUT AND PASTE IT FROM ANOTHER PROGRAM

Why on earth this is so complicated in a program that obviously requires that symbol frequently, we will never know.

Hope this saves someone the time I just spent piecing it all together. If you experiment with other fonts and find they work, let us know which ones.

Cheers,
Rita
