Yes, but if that's the way an existing one is you'll need to rework it.

If you need help on that, let us know what graphics program(s) you have.

I had a feeling it was since I've done it before, however I can't get it to work at the moment!

-I have paintshop pro 6 and 7
-FrontPage 2002 (for some reason the transparent tool won't work :( )
-Animation shop 3.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The transparency tool in FP isn't able to work on animated gifs since they have multiple images within them.

Open the image in PSP's animation shop, but you'll need to add the transparency within PSP. From the animation shop 2 help file...
quote:
Export selected animation frames into Paint Shop Pro as described below.

1. Select the frame(s) you want to export into Paint Shop Pro.

2. Export the selected frame(s) using any of the following methods:

· Choose File > Export Frames to Paint Shop Pro
, or

· Click the Export Frames to Paint Shop Pro button on the toolbar, or

· Right-click anywhere inside the animation to display the Frame context menu, and then choose Export Frames to Paint Shop Pro

If it is not already running, the Paint Shop Pro application will start up and the selected frame(s) will open. You can then modify these frames as you would any other image in Paint Shop Pro.

Ř Note: You cannot modify the animation in Animation Shop until you close the exported frame(s) in Paint Shop Pro. To indicate that exported frames remain open, the Animation Shop cursor shape will change to an hourglass when placed over any frame currently open in Paint Shop Pro.

Using Paint Shop Pro-modified Images in Animation Shop

After modifying exported frames in Paint Shop Pro, you can incorporate the modified frames by doing one of the following steps in Paint Shop Pro:

· Choose Edit > Update Back to Animation Shop. This will update the frame to reflect your modifications. This will not close the file in Paint Shop Pro.

· Choose File > Exit & Return to [file] (where [file] is the name of the Animation Shop file). When prompted to update the frame before closing the file, choose Yes. The Animation Shop frame will be updated and Paint Shop Pro will close the file.

Breaking the Link to Paint Shop Pro

When a frame or frames has been exported to Paint Shop Pro, this establishes a link between Animation Shop and Paint Shop Pro. This link prevents you from working on the animation. You can break the link using one of the following methods:

· In Animation Shop, choose File > Break Link With Exported Frames. This closes the file in Paint Shop Pro, exits Paint Shop Pro, and does not update the frame in Animation Shop.

· In Paint Shop Pro, choose Edit > Update Back to Animation Shop. This will update the frame to reflect your modifications. This will not close the file in Paint Shop Pro.

· In Paint Shop Pro, close the file. You’ll be asked to save changes and update the frame in Animation Shop. Choose Yes to update the frames; choose No to close the file and not update the frames.

I had a feeling I had to transfer from one program to the other. I'll give it a whirl.

Thanks Maderator!

Not getting a lot of luck - once the frames are exported to paintshop pro (they appear as once image with different layers). I can't set the transparancy, as it prompts me to change the image to a single layer. aka it only keeps the first frame of the animation and ditches the others

no

The web site will only make one color in only one of the frames of an anim .gif transparent

You'll need to open the graphic in a program used to animate images, such as gif construction set, or possibly your Animation shop 3... which I'm not familiar with.

Once the graphic is open you should be able to manipulate each of the individual images that comprise the graphic.

i.e. change the background color to a transparency...

Hope that points you in the right direction.

Open in Animation shop and see if you can copy each individual frame into PSP... export each one as a transparent gif, then rebuild your animation.

Second option... change either the background color of your page, or put the gif inside a table with the background set to match.

Same background no good - it's being placed in a flash movie with a moving background!

I used the frame by frame method which worked.

Thanks

How about posting the graphic in question... I'd be happy to help you with it. Sounds like a simple project..

Hurray! Success at long last. On the bright side, next time it'll be relatively easy.
