Vincento -> Professional site design (4/9/2001 20:45:00)

My company is exploring have a 'professional' re-design a new corporate web site, with the design being slick background, navigation, style, graphics, etc. Not content, but all the 'look & feel' stuff. We would then build in the content with FP2000. The Professional likely will not be using FrontPage. Would we want to receive CSS, gif files and possibly specific web pages, which we would then import into FP2000 here? Would we be importing a theme? Anyone have experience with this? Our management has looked at the OutFront themes, but want more - graphics, custom graphics of our products, sites, etc. Guess my question is what would we want from this design house that we could bring into FP2000 & plug in the text content, etc. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact me directly if you prefer. dlegoullon@senecaprinting.com

Two things occur to me

1. A given professional design company may not use FP either at all or exclusively but there is no reason, if you wish them to do so, why they should not. Lots and lots of very good prefessional companies do, not exclusiveluy maybe but they are certainly capable of it. Search for one that does.

2. What you are really looking for is a template. While those you see here or at other sites that sell templates may not be exactly what you are after, most are quite happy to design custom templates for a fee. Contact the webmaster of any sites whose templates you like and ask them about their charges. This is a very cost effective way of having a design done.

As well as the very good templates on this site you could look at Pixel Mill http://www.pixelmill.net . Have a browse around, find some templates you like the look of and then contact the designers.

Many firms that completely refuse to consider FP would have a hard time doing work on a site that would be finished in FP by someone else.

I agree with trying to find a company that will give the web site to you in Frontpage. If you are paying for a professional site, you also should have someone oversee the final site to take care of any finishing touches and make sure there aren't any problems.
